The time i went for Malang Doeloe

at Jln.Ijen Besar, i didn’t put up the pics of the eats i had there =) These are the food i don’t see around or eat frequently.

p>deception

Lontong Sayuran
Serve with Kuah (gravy) Kare which is cooked with Santan on Vegetables, such as: potatos, bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, nangka, boil eggs, beancurd and Sambal.

Lontong is actually rice that is ‘dihimpit’ meaning compress to either cylindric form or diamond form like the ketupat. I don’t like lontong or ketupat. It’s too bland for my taste, because no matter what sauce you deep it in, when you start chewing you still can taste the blandness there. Baah! Now i now how i like my lontong… totally drench in gravy like this dish!

deception

There was this stall full with people. Obviously when you see people crowding a restaurant you know they definitely serve nice food. That’s the TauKehSou packing the food for us.

She makes really Kick-Ass NASI LIWET, although it’s must first time trying but it is really good! That psychoticSeet had 3 take away!
So what is Nasi Liwet? It’s really a sinful rice dish with lots of Santan to give you cholesterol.

The Condiments

Nasi Liwet also known SEGO LIWET, is a traditional food from Solo- Jawa Tengah (central of Jawa).
Consist: Nasi Gurih Santan- Rice cooked in Santan
Ayam Kampung Rebus Bumbu- Boiled Marinated Kg. Chicken
Sayur Labu Siyem (manisah) Pedas
Santan Kelapa Kenthal (areh)

Contact: Bu Djadno, Bantaran Barat II No. 22, (tlp) 0341-492001 / 081803804621

The Labu Siyem is the red colour looking food, the white paste of glob smeared on the whole plate is actually Santan Kelapa Kenthal! They take the santan and boil it until it is thick! It does looks like Yoghurt than the Indian’s like to put on their food, doesn’t it?

deception

deception

Pulut Can’t remember the full of it.

Consist: Pulut, Grounded Nuts, Sugar, and Dessicated Coconut.
It’s ok, not so fond of it since it’s rice and sweet food. Was trying it because i’ve never come across it. In the end my friends and i ate the Toppings and threw most of the rice away.

deception

Bamboo light in front of the stall.

This is where i’ve waited long time to CHOMP out to yesterday…

deception

IKANA, Jalan Galunggung, 25, Malang
Man, they serve one massive portion of food! A little bit of seafood and the price is so affordable for a big group! Chellum has been promising me to bring me after he was raving all about it but then he FFK me… so i went with the Girls! Thankfully Coffeemate knew how to go there =))

deception

looks like a cafeteria, that’s where the kitchen and where the counter is
The food portion like i said is big! One plate of Fried Rice can be shared by 2 =)

deception

Take a look at the menu…
a little limited, but this is the best it can offer in most places i eat at.
Yeah, this is the chinese restaurant run by locals, therefore HALAL!!

I’m a Aminah here… i don’t take pork. I’m a little Letchumy… i don’t think much beef.

deception

This is HOW BIG IT IS!
(left)Udang Goreng Kering serve with that artificial coloured red sauce way behind the food if you can see; (right) Nasi Goreng Seafood and (middle) Nasi Goreng Yang Cho
Udang Goreng is really good and big, cost RP 30k! NasGor Seafood cost RP 24k, i don’t really like it because they serve so much rice and there’s s little ingredients as in the condiments of it; prawns and pineapple in it. NasGor Yang Cho cost RP 24k I likeee… Got lots of ingredients in it! Aplenty of vegetables and chicken. Taste is there la.. better than most places i’ve been.

As you can see Nasi goreng dominates the menu. Yeah, Indonesia really loves fried rice! Everywhere you go, lots of stalls you can see them selling fried rice. Don’t believe read KennySia

’s trip to Jakarta and Bandung.

Truthfully, so far the best fried rice i’ve tasted in Indonesia was the time i was in Surabaya for the CIMSA’s May Meeting. I don’t go around trying NasGor, i rarely eat those, it jsut so happens that i was pigging on my friend’s Fried Rice.

deception

Hot Plate Tahu
It’s not so hot, it’s SWEET and STARCHY!! People here can’t make good proper gravy, it’s always starchy and really gooey glistening glob (GGG). Kiap Siap with sauce or they really love their corn flour.

5 girls CHOMP off RP 80k! So worth it! It’s been a long time since i’ve sit on a table and other dishes and share! Such a homely feel! I came back with a hard plateau abdominal. Bliss*

Rating: 2 thumbs up!

Who likes bathing? I’m a goat who refrains from icy cold water, which is nearly every day now for the next 6 months. The weather here changed, it’s getting very chilly like the first time I came. I relish long bath from head to toe that includes scrubbing! Darn cheap getting micro scrubs to exfoliate dead skin cells! The products manufactures here are mostly NATURAL! Skin feels smoother and supple now =)

Oh dear, I accidentally flushed one part of my socks in to the toilet bowl! I’m not worrying about the missing socks now, it’s the toilet that worries me =( I hope it won’t start vomiting it’s gut out, especially vomiting after I’ve done my big business!

Gross! But I’ve experience it in Jatinangor… FLOODING K!!! *faints* I’m not sure how I managed. One more bomb to detonate, it’s a complicated one! Wish me Luck! I need money please bank to me! I’ve not paid the rent and I was given a notice two days ago.

deception

It’s it natural to have so much hair droppings after one hair wash? This is only part of it… during washing I lost more from my head. I’m going to be bald by the end of 6 years. I kid you not, there was this Chinese senior in UnPad who was balding! You can actually see his hair thinning big time. Stress is one factor the other is water quality….

See this…

I’m listening to some utterly depressing songs from the radio. What made this artist modify such nice and upbeat tune to some utterly sad, depressing and draggy tune, that actually sounds as if they got their in genius idea from the sitcome FRIENDS, the song “Smelly Cat”! Gosh can you imagine the song My Humps from BEP in that beat?!! It’s totally dead and boring. They even turn one of my favourite lyrics and listening from Meredith Brooke “I’m a Bitch” in to something sounds like will be sung from a down-strung hippy! I really want to vandalise that Alannis Morissette for ruining the My Humps song.

1. Proteins need an acid environment to digest. Drink between meals not at meals. Liquid at meal times dilutes the gastric acid. Avoid meaty soups. If you do have them, eat the meat and the broth at different meals.

2. Eat all your meat first. This ensures that the meat is covered fully in acid in the stomach. The veges and the rest don’t need the acid and can sit like a blanket on top. Hence no 3.

3. Don’t disturb the stack of food in your stomach by getting up and down, or moving around during the meal. Sit down, enjoy your family and friends company for at least half an hour after the meal this will aid digestion immeasurably.

4. If you don’t have success with the preceding two suggestions, separate your meals. Have a meat and vege meal (no carbs) then a carb meal (no meat) later

5. VERY importantly, don’t have three big meals a day.

The whole theory behind the Specific Carbohydrate Diet is to aim for complete digestion before the food hits the large bowel. The body has a better chance of digesting six half-size meals per day than three big ones. In this way the acid can work to completion of a moderate portion of meat. Also your pancreas and saliva can cope with secreting enough enzymes to do the job.

6. Don’t eat after 21:00, and forget everything about delicious late night snacks. When you come home hungry at 02:00 in the morning, drink water – only water. Your intestines have to rest at this time of the day.

7. Do your best to keep your bedtime – and to get no less than eight hours of sleep every night. Your night sleep means more to your intestines and your digestive system than you’d imagine.

8. Generally, drink lots of water. (Read more about why here.)
Try to follow this timetable every day :

0730, 1030, 1230, 1400 1530, 1730, 1900, 2100.

Drink water half an hour or an hour before meals. After a meal, wait for about one or half an hour later before consuming water. Do not drink and eat at the same time, this will dilute your gastric juices for digestion in your stomach, refer to (1).

Practice good behaviour.

I remembered my dad mentioning to me about the Carbs Diet, i was skeptical about it, but it does make sense, if you read (1-4). But heck, Atkins Diet work faster for me because without glucose and fats breaking down, the body will use protein as energy resource. Hence, you have leaner muscles and less fats. Yeah sure it won’t be long lasting if you don’t excercise, which i’m not since i’m having exams. Gish! I’m feeling bloated!

Well, of proteins again, taking excess proteins to meet body needs is called positive nitrogen balance: nitrogen input is more than nitrogen output; happens in growing infants and children, pregnant women, and people recovering from protein deficiency and illness . Excess proteins will be excreted as Urea. Lack of protein in our body is called negative nitrogen balance: nitrogen output is higher than nitrogen input; happens in people who are starving or suffering other severe stresses such as burns, injuries, infections, and fever. This is when body loses protein as it is breakdown for energy. Usually for adults the nitrogen intake is balance.

Taking The Protein From The Muscles

The body’s skeletal muscles act as an emergency source of protein if insufficient amounts are eaten. The body can break down its own muscle tissue, and transport the amino acids gathered from that muscle destruction to the more vital organs, if necessary. (As an aside, recall that we know that people on very low fat diets are also, frequently and by default, on low protein diets. This is because most of the rich sources of protein in foods are also in sources of dietary fat. These dieters lose their muscle mass because their bodies cannibalize their own muscles as a source of the proteins that they need, but are not eating.)

~Is the reason why Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 people grows thinner.

Another interesting fact about protein:
Problems Arising From Incomplete or Improper Protein Digestion

Sometimes, instead of being properly broken down into amino acids, small amounts of whole or partial proteins are absorbed into the blood. The body wants amino acids, not whole proteins, and whole proteins are viewed by the system as an enemy. This is where we get the phrase foreign protein. The presence of protein instead of amino acids may lead to food allergies, to a shock reaction called anaphylaxis (anna-phil-AXIS), to other symptoms typical of an allergy, such as sneezing, breathing difficulties, skin rashes, headaches, nausea, or even, in severe cases, death. And these problems result from just a very small amount of the food protein, which doesn’t belong there.

Sometimes protein substances containing nitrogen may reach the large intestine. This may be undigested or partly digested food residues, unabsorbed amino acids, unused protein enzymes, or the protein of dead bacteria. These protein substances will likely be attacked by microorganisms (bacteria) that live in the intestinal tract, and be decomposed by the process called putrefaction (pew-tra-FAC-tion). This often results in diarrhea.
