Everything and Anything you want to know about the University.

So i see lots of cobs web here and tiny menacing spiders that are nesting at my blog. It’s been a long time since i post something woth mentioning in words rather than keeping it to myself. Well it will be lie if i saw it hasn’t been a busy 6th semester, and I would be such a big liar if i were to say i got nothing to blog about. My interest has just took another turn and blogging doesn’t seem to be the thing anymore.

Resizing pics ain’t my fav chore to do XD

Seasons comes and seasons goes…

Another year pass and another batch of seniors are leaving. A mixed feeling of happiness and reluctance awashed me though it is not as intense as the last one. I got use to the momentum of left and leave.

It’s always easier to leave than to be left behind

I’ve not seen it that way until just now.
I remember it was easier for me to leave home and pursue these arduous path (in the lands of volcanoes and earthquake not to forget tsunami spot) because i know when i return everything will be where  it was before- Family, friends, places and home. Little have i ever given a thought that how much of my absence can change norms of 6 people back home. Don’t be mistaken that i contribute a lot to home- i do not cook or do anything significant in the household other than do some occasional house chores and be me basically. I suppose it is the void that was left.

Joking Kak Vi: ” good riddance you guys are leaving!”

Medic life in 3rd year has never been busier than before. I used to have time hanging with the seniors of the same house. I do miss the lil chit-chats of their perspective, insights and their lil medic life story in the hospital.

Jansee Baby the few of the many seniors that i bonded left one two weeks ago. They have served their 5 1/2 years  of medical knowledge in UniBraw with much sacrifice.

The flowers of Congratulations from Batch 2006 :)

It feels older to be me now…

Have you ever what is it like?
I’ve never though much of it until today.

Today was the third time we had to draw blood from the heart of our short 21 days lived lab rat. Each time is as painful to watch as the first but this time was the worse. I suspect there wasn’t enough alcohol to anesthesia the rat for it took longer than usual to knock it off unconscious. When we though it was unconscious enough we place it at the dissecting tray where we pinned its four limbs with needle to the tray bed. Skillfully the lab worker pulled the flaccid abdominal muscle and makes an incision upwards to the chest cutting through its rib cage. The sound of crunch broken ribs was none as if there was nothing there in the first place. Usually, if the animal is not anesthesia the muscle will be still in contracted state, hence it’s easier to cut through the abdominal muscles without the messy pool of blood flooding.

Half way making the incision towards the chest, the rat struggled! It was gaining conscious. We had to quickly place the alcohol cotton on its face. The struggle wasn’t over until we draw all its blood from its heart to the syringe. How cruel and unethical it was.

I was watching from quite a distance, taking a step back each time I as the rat gain conscious and struggled, earnestly giving prayers to the poor animal, hoping the ordeal it had to go through wasn’t as bad as it looks. But who am I kidding? It’s painful enough to watch as it is what more if the one under the scalpel.

A few days ago I watch a movie-Awaken, story revolves a rich young business tycoon who had to lie on the surgery table having a cardio transplant. He was anesthesia of course but he’s subconscious mind was awake. Imagine finding yourself some what awake and watching you being dissected from the sides. He was screaming his lungs out of terror when he watch himself being slice up and the saw sawing through his ribcage as they went in and grab his heart. He watched the crew of operation doctors screw up as his body started crashing.

Comparing the two I’ve mix feelings conjure up in me as these two questions pop in to my mind: “What if I were the surgeon? What if I was lying on the cold operating table?”
I feel sorry for the rat having to wake up finding itself immobilize, hurt and being cut up. It left its dismembered body with its life being suck away into the syringe as the piston pulled upwards. Life was no more just like that.

Out, out, brief candle

It gets me wondering, was there any other way to draw all the blood from the rat other than that. If the rat was killed stone cold first, we would not be able to draw that much blood from the heart because the blood would have coagulated by then.

……. unfinished…

Lovely aren’t they? These were flower buds that we picked that blossom over night when the sun rised!

Changing my thesis extract from Gymnema slyvestre to Hibiscus Rossa Sinensis.

Although common it may be the hunt wasn’t easy. Four days continously Athos, Porthos, Aramis and d’Artagnan were out on a long expedition for flowers.

It was not an easy feat to :

1) Escape from harassment of the motorist nor

2) Break into so many houses in the quest of the flowers.

You only need one tall accomplice to do the unreachable work, since the three musketeers were only 5 feet 2 inches, d’Artagnan had to do most of the stretching task.

:: pot of gold- flowers of labour ::

These were the collections from our 3 quest and it was abundance…. compared to the past two days we only collected 69 flowers.

Supposedly the three hours of long walk is worth it if it weren’t for some NINCOMPOOP who did a terrible thing…

Does look like it doesn’t it? :)

Rinsed, Dried, Sewn, and Hang.

Strong wind was blowing throughout the night, yet the garlands of flowers hung out at the balcony didn’t drop.

The NINCOMPOOP i mentioned earlier, the next day when we had class he threw it into the public GARBAGE BIN!!!  Some of us were near brink of tears.
I tell you i had and immediate blood rushed up to my brain that i suffered tremendous discomfort the whole night no to mention the malaise (muscle ache) i acquire from the long hours of walking. When we confronted him, that ASS was smiling his sardonic smile and gleefully telling us he thrown it away thinking it was garbage since it drop down from the balcony. He even though this were our ‘toys’! You know ‘main-main’!!!

Guess what…
There was this long branch that we left at the balcony the night before, it was still at the balcony after all this incident. How come that is not garbage?!!

You will have thought a full grown man of his forties will have the cognitive mind to think that medical students do not have time to waste by collecting so many flowers and sew it together like garlands just because it is for fun! Clearly he needs to get into an asylum or this is just plain vengeance of his part since he doesn’t like us (Malaysians at all). This is not the first time he created ill-will towards us.

I plainly wanted to kickthefella, puncture his wheels, throw out his best shoes, clean his floor with cat-poo, place stones in to his exos pipe!! Arrgghh….

Double the job- we collected our precious from the garbage bin and removed all the debris and strands of hair, wash it again and dry it! Long Process! Our worries is that the extract is long gone with all this washing-drying and washing-drying.

Hopes and satisfaction turn vexation and chagrin :(

Seriously i don’t get the ‘Gigi and Mulut’ subject. I find it immensely boring. Could it be the language or the droning voice of the doctor or perhaps the itsy-bitsy details of the enamel, crown, root, molar, premolar…? and miscellaneous medical latin names which i’ve yet to input in the brain.

Dear me! Yes, mega-bucks can be earn from this field. I found out that peers of mine that goes to the dentist often or orthodontist (to be precise) gets a little bit too excited than usual and ask lots of questions! Mind you they are all females that are beauty conscious of their smiles.

I salute those who endures the minute details of tooth/teeth and appreciate their passion for making others have beautiful smiles. It’s a big beauty market out there, especially in Thailand since it is well known as the land of smiles.

As for me… i want to know more about jaw reconstruction. It is very fascinating to dis attach the abnormal original jaw and replace with an artificial one.

this is some insane shit of merry-go-round!

Aside from the 11 subjects, i need to go through, my kind yet evil lecturers have to make everything merrier by adding 4 more subjects.

lots of people are in the same rut as i am but … …

i’m afraid for myself.
